Brigadoon is a Land where the forgotten Heroes go

Where No One Ever Gets Sick

Where No One Ever Gets Old

And No One Ever Dies......

And They Become Heroes Again!

Please send us some of your rescue stories so that we can print them for others to share.

Many people can make a difference in a rescued animal and a child, if you have a love for animals you can rescue one or two if you have the room and interact a child in your neighborhood whos family can't afford to do so or just don't have the knowledge to do it.  This will reward you more than you know.  To save those animals and make the difference in a child will live on in their hearts forever.

Question: Can you tell us how you first became interested in animal rescue?
CW:  When I was a little girl, my mother was always rescuing animals so I think it is in my blood.  I started rescuing animals and repairing them and finding them homes to make room to save more animals.  When I realized that  most of my Christmas Card list were people who had taken my rescued animals was when I realized I needed to do this on a full time basis.  I have laughed and cried through the years over my rescues but I wouldn't change it for anything because the laughter and rewards of seeing one of my rescues in a good situation, and making another happy has been worth all the hard work.

This was a story my father used to tell me when I was a child, that all the animals go to Brigadoon when they get old.  I thought it was a perfect name for a Horse Rescue.

Years ago at one of our horse camps we had a little girl named Courtney that participated during the day for 2 weeks while her father was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.  She would arrive each morning and take a shower before leaving to go home so as not to carry any infection to her father.  She was a sweet little girl and she took care of one of our rescued ponies named Chocolate Chip.

Months after she left our camp her Step-mother called to tell me that Courtney's father was in remission and she had just called Courtney to give her the news.  Courtney's response surprised her when she said "I knew Daddy was going to be okay because I was at Brigadoon where no one ever gets sick or old and no one ever dies."

When I heard this story my heart swelled for her, I thought I was trying to make her 2 weeks happy in spite of the circumstances, but I realized that the camp had given her hope because of the Brigadoon story and that was something I couldn't have forseen.

Organization News

We just rescued a 4 year old TB/WB mix named Ronnie,  we welcome him but think he will probably be up for adoption soon as he is young and sweet and needs his own person to lead  a long and healthy life.
